In 1894 it was converted into a non-profit organization and its name was changed to Tung Shin Hospital. The hospital was then shifted to the present address. A new single story ward was built in 1917. It was rebuilt in 1959 into a double storey, u-shape medical ward. The building was completed in 1961 and named the Welfare Ward. In 1933, Chinese Medical Ward was built and named Loke Yim Ward. In 1963, it was rebuilt into a double storey ward, and recently it was converted into the hospital cafeteria. A three-storey Lee Yan Lian Building was completed in 1974 and became an inpatient ward in 1978. It is now turned into a dormitory for the nursing students. A bold expansion program for the
Western Medical Department was initiated in 1985 and completed in 1989.
This 10-storey block with a total built up area of 240,000 square feet
has a bed capacity of 250.

Affiliation of Cancer Society Treatment Centre The services and activities of the Society are geared towards prevention and control of cancer and to bring relief to cancer patients. This Mission Of Hope is a continuous journey of education and public awareness. The Society also provides for the early diagnosis, support, care and treatment of cancer patients. The Headquarter office of the Society is situated on the Lower Ground Floor of the Tung Shin Hospital in Kuala Lumpur and the Negeri Sembilan branch of the Society is located in the Bukit Kaya Medical Centre in Seremban. |
